About-Council

Gem & Jewellery Trade Council of India (GJTCI) established in 2000 to serve national gem and jewellery traders and manufacturers who were concentrating on creating a cohesive organization dedicated to developing and expanding the industry for the benefit of all. It indulges itself in disseminating latest information to its jeweler-members through a monthly newsletter, imparting educational training in all aspects of manufacturing and designing, organising various educative & trade-motivational events such as seminars, exhibitions, foreign trade delegations, etc.


GJTCI is formed with a motto to unite the jewellery trade to showcase its potential nationally as well as internationally. Indian Jewellery industry is armed with millennia-old talents, biggest & still growing local market for gold, exquisite craftsmanship in jewellery & a tag of being world's largest manufacturer of cut & polished diamonds.


The council integrates the jewellery trade & translates the strengths of the trade into opportunities to take over the world by following the right path of prosperity through unity. With strength of over 500 members spread all over the country, the Council is primarily involved in introducing the Indian gem & jewellery products to the domestic and international market. Council informs its members of various fairs and exhibitions taking place around the world.


Council also continuously works towards creating best artisans / designers to consolidate the Indian jewellery industry and establish it as a prominent player in the jewellery segment.


The council publishes a Bi-monthly magazine Jewel Trade wherein matters, events regarding the trade are informed.

Objective

Realizing the need for an organized body, the Gem & Jewellery Trade Council of India was founded in the year 2000 with the following identified principal objectives:

  • Guidance and Assistance to members in bringing professionalism.
  • Conducting Events / Exhibitions / Seminars / Trade Delegations.
  • Participating in various foreign exhibitions by visiting them.
  • Disseminating of useful information.
  • Liaisoning with Government and other professional & trade bodies within the country and internationally.
  • Identifying the need for trade promotional activities.
  • Sourcing Design, Technology and Machinery.
  • Conducting workshops for craftsmen and impart training in jewellery designing
    and manufacturing.
  • Organising Training sessions for members and their staff on Management subjects like
    Marketing Management, Self Development, Leadership, Communication skills etc.
  • Arranging competition and awarding prizes.

GJTCI works in hand with jewellery and technology sectors, its purpose is to provide industry leadership, whilst stimulating and sustaining demand for Gems & Jewellery.


We provide insights into the international G&J markets, helping jeweller members to better understand the market both domestic and internationally. Based in the Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, GJTCI is an association whose members are kept abreast of all major happenings in the market.

We use knowledge to develop insights into the future role that G&J can play, in collaboration with partners, intervene to deliver solutions and create new markets, and to increase and sustain the demand for G&J. We are a trusted advisor to policy makers and reserve asset managers on all matters related to the G&J market. In the Jewellery sector, we create new insights and ideas which increase the allure and significance. In the Technology sector, we work to place jewellery at the heart of technological advancement.


We develop a clear understanding of, and insight into, each of key markets. Using this insight, we create new, relevant and innovative solutions for our jeweller members. Our insight adds value to our members, partners and stakeholders.

Because of our multi-type jewellery member make-up, GJTCI takes pride in being the umbrella organization for the industry and being the voice for issues relating to our industry.
