With a view to ensure proper authentication for social security purposes and for the benefit of the entire Gem & Jewellery industry, GJEPC has launched the Parichay Card initiative. The objective of this project is to create a verified and well-crafted database for Gem & Jewellery workers to provide them better job opportunities, help them to find financial support from banks & financial institutions and provide better healthcare services through customised health insurance plan. All these will be linked to a specially designed identity card with a unique number. This card not only give the workers a valid proof of their employment and identity but would also make them eligible for various initiatives. The initiative has been already been launched across India.

Employment opportunities through skill mapping*: Through Parichay Card, the skills of the artisans will be mapped, e.g. cutting, polishing, faceting, designing etc. GJEPC will then create a database of the skills of theseartisans. The database will be utilized to provide employment opportunities to the artisans all over India in the future.

Access to Banks and other Financial Services*: A Parichay card will also be an asset for the artisans to approach banks for financial support as it will act as a proof that they are recognized artisans working for the gem and jewellery industry.

State and Central government benefits*: Once a large enough database is created, GJEPC will be approaching the State and Central Governments to link their benefits and schemes like housing schemes etc. to the Parichay Card

Two Way SMS verification*: This is a key feature which is important for verification of the artisan in case of emergency where he needs to prove his identity in case if he is interrogated by police/customs/government officers while carrying any gold, precious raw material or jewellery. In such cases he can prove his identity by presenting his Parichay Card to the interrogating officer, who can verify its authenticity by sending an SMS to a mobile number present on the card. A two-way SMS will be sent automatically to the device verifying the identity of the artisanproving that the Parichay Cars is genuine and reliable.
